Yet another blow reported today for Halifax’s inner city schools.
This morning, CBC Radio 1 is reporting that the 4+ program, which gives an academic head start to students at Joseph Howe, St Pat/Alexandra, and St Joe/A Murray Mackay.
Though no school board staff would speak on air, one of the reasons given was the change in Supplementary Funding from HRM approved last year.
If approved, this change would now mean that in addition to proposing to close two of three inner-city schools, that HRSB is considering ending the highly successful early education program in these same three schools.
Why are these schools being targeted for cuts, rather than for additional resources to address their specific educational concerns?
