Council to debate supplementary funding plan – Herald

“There could be peace on supplementary funding in the Halifax region, but it would come at a price.
Halifax regional municipality would cut the fund by $1.8 million and all taxpayers would pay the same rate by 2010-11.
That means residents and businesses in Halifax and Dartmouth would pay less, while taxpayers in Halifax County and Bedford would see their rates rise.
“We feel this would be good for the ratepayers and we feel it would be good mostly for the students,” Carole Olsen, superintendent of the Halifax regional school board, said Monday in an interview.
“We’ve been one school board for a long, long time and we are really supporting having one standard of education throughout.””
