Public Meeting – Size of School Board

It is important that parents be aware that there is a proposal to shrink the size of the elected board from 12 to a possible 8 or even 4 representatives. Comments on this proposal are being solicited. The information is below.

Public Submissions Meeting – November 21

The Education Act requires all school boards in Nova Scotia to review the number and boundaries of their electoral districts every eight years. This review must be completed and filed with the Utility and Review Board no later than December 31, 2007.

A background report has been prepared for consideration. The report can be viewed on the HRSB website at the following URL:

The public is invited to share their views on this important topic at the Public Submissions Meeting on November 21, 2007. The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the school board chambers at 90 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth.
